Each of us has our own way of connecting to the strength within us. For me, that's getting into my car and going for a drive. I'm one of those people who don't mind going for a long drive alone. For some reason, doing this transports me to another place, both literally and figuratively. It doesn't even have to be a long drive—15 minutes is enough to take me to that place—and I usually have something playing on the stereo that lifts my heart.
I come up with some of my best ideas on these drives. I sit comfortably, my hands wrapped easily around the steering wheel. I feel the weight of the car around me and the steady hum of its motor beneath me. When I'm in that place, I am fearless. I feel energized, hopeful, powerful and strong. I see possibilities and believe that they are attainable. My mind is active and full of intention.
These drives always provide me with a moment of reprieve from my own negative thoughts—a break in the storm where a little clarity can seep in. All of my fear, anxiety, and doubt fall away. Instead, I am excited about the road ahead. Motivation comes so much easier than when I'm standing on the ground.
Maybe it's the activity of traveling cheap viagra online from canada from one place to the next; maybe it's the sound of the music in my ears; maybe it's the state of being alone and in control of my destination; I'm not really sure. I just know that the drive never fails to transport me to a place of strength that already exists within me.
Of self empowerment and solitude, the well-known playwright Eve Ensler (of The Vagina Monologues fame) said:

"Cherish your solitude. Take trains by yourself to places you have never been. Sleep out alone under the stars. Learn how to drive a stick shift. Go so far away that you stop being afraid of not coming back..."
Eve's words remind me that we don't always have to look outside ourselves for strength. Chances are, the boost we need is already inside of us; we just need to learn how to find it. If driving isn't your thing, then figure out what it is that transports you to that place of possibility. Hop on a plane, go for a run, take a walk, go shopping, listen to music, get on your bike, or go for a surf; once you find it, do everything you can to spend a lot of time doing it.
